Bee Relocation

APC Management really understand the key role that bees have within our ecosystem as pollinators. However, when they're located in or around your home, it can be problematic. That's why we take extra care to safely relocate beehives to protect both bees and homeowners.

We recently attended a call to a beehive hiding in a birdhouse. Birdhouses don't just provide shelter to birds; they provide an ideal nesting spot for bees. Despite being in a tricky location, Gary was able to safely remove the birdhouse from the wall and bring it down.

Gary identified the bees as "Buff-tailed Bumblebees". As one of the most globally abundant species of bee, they play a fundamental part in pollination across the world. Unfortunately, the bee population is dropping drastically - we must ensure that their lives are preserved.

The next task was finding an excellent new home for the bees. Gary found a nearby hedgerow with plenty of flowers waiting to be pollinated. To reduce the disruption to the bees and their hive, the owners of the birdhouse agreed to part ways with it until they have moved on. Bumblebees move on from their nest every 2-3 months, so luckily the birdhouse can be returned to it's place soon.
