Why is a Top-to-Bottom Property Survey Necessary?

At Accurate Pest Control Management we want to provide the best and most accurate pest control service we can. This is why we always perform a top-to-bottom property survey before any pest control services take place. This ensures that our work is always thorough, high-quality, and minimises the chance of the problem re-occuring.

What exactly happens in the top-to-bottom survey? During a top-to-bottom property survey we would search every nook and cranny within your home including any attics, basements, storage rooms/facilities, utility rooms or maintenance rooms for signs of pest activity, we will also survey the outside of the property to ensure we have found any possible entrances to your home.

Pest activity can be shown in a variety of ways, for instance mice and rats will often leave visible signs of activity like droppings, chew marks, or urine that shows up under UV light. Other pests like woodworms will give out audible signs of activity, as we walk around your home we will listen very carefully for any clicking, creaking, or grinding that you may be able to hear out of your walls, woodworm will also leave visible imperfections in any wooden items within your home like cupboards, structural beams, or doors/windows.

Depending on the type of pest we’re looking for we may bring along specialist equipment to help us find or identify your pest problem, for example using a UV light would show up any urine left by unwelcome visitors.

What could happen without a property survey? Well, without a full top-to-bottom survey there would be no way we could guarantee that your pest problem is fully resolved, the survey also allows us to perform our job properly and thoroughly, giving you the best service possible.

In the images to the side you can see a job we recently attended in Corby where there was signs of rat activity in the attic, after the property survey Gary Wilkinson, our leading pest control technician, had let the customer know that he believes the rats were entering the property from a small hole in the flat roof on the right hand side of their home. Because of this survey Gary knew that the problem was confined to the attic and garden, and was certain that there were no signs of activity in the rest of the customer’s home. The top image shows bait that has been consumed under the attic floorboards, the bottom image shows two bait boxes, placed on either side of the house, bait was only taken from the box at the right hand side of their home under their decking. This confirmed what was found during the top-to-bottom property survey.
